Phoebe Cohoe

Untitled (car with string), 2012

Creating a tension between material and subject, Cohoe presented the object of a car, entirely wrapped in yard and fabric. This installation implicates a great deal of attention and consideration for the most produced and used transportation vehicle, transforming the car from an industrial machine to sculptural object.

The vehicle is placed in an automotive center of Kingston, and in this space functions as both a monument of the industry, as well as an intervention in the space and critique of transportation culture.

Phoebe Cohoe is an artist currently living in Kingston, ON. She received her BFA from Queen’s University with a specialization in printmaking. She generally works in printmaking and drawing, but maintains sculptural interests.
